Online Window Shopping for Nico’s Stroller

Ever since the approval of my credit card application 4 years ago, I have been doing a lot of shopping in the net. I purchased books online, along with e-books, tutorial and reviewer CDs, as well as shoes, jewelry and other women’s apparel.

Well, little Nicholas is turning 2 months on the 15th of February and I think I should be getting him a stroller now so we can have our leisure walks (and maybe even window shopping!) every now and then. I was planning on going to the mall and find a good stroller for him but I got a little lazy. Also, I was thinking about several things like, “what style would fit him” or “what precautions must be considered at his age”, among other things. Thus, I decided to do some onwin shopping (my own word for online window shopping, hehehe!) just to get a picture of what I should be buying.

I never thought online shopping would be this fun and educational when I found ShopWiki in the net. I was amazed with all the information they have on almost everything that everybody wants to purchase online (Well, with 223,963,832 products from every store, you’ll have plenty of choices alright!). The site is actually not selling anything at all, it’s doing something more worthwhile and praiseworthy. The site makes any product available on the site and if that isn’t enough, they even have buying guides so as to help shoppers become intelligent online buyers.

And so I let the site make an intelligent buyer out of me by visiting their stroller buying guide before leaping on the product pages wherein a wide variety of strollers with image, price and basic information are available. You can even narrow down the displayed products by their price, brand and color filters. I really like the information they give about strollers too. I think I fell in love with many full-featured strollers that they offer. Why not? Aside from being convenient and adaptable, it’s more solid, more spacious, much safer, comes with a canopy and many other accessories that will make strolling with Baby Nico fun and expedient.

Oh wow! Time flies so fast when you’re having fun huh! The site is taking too much of my time! I assure you, it is indeed a great baby shopping site not only for strollers but also for all other baby products such as baby bags and carriers, car seats, nursing and feeding stuff, infant and toddler clothing, toys and many more! What are you waiting for? Do some intelligent shopping now!

A Safe Haven for Little Nicholas

Mommy came across this article on child-proofing your home without neglecting style and home fashion as well. I was rather “angered” with this image wherein a baby is taking his bath with all the dirty plates in the kitchen sink. I just can’t accept that my Little Nicholas will be bathed that way too or will be forced to live in a house where he’s not really safe to roam around. Tsk! Look at that image? Wouldn’t it break your heart too? Sigh…

I’m not really sure if my room is already child-proofed as well. But many child safety experts recommend simple child-proofing steps that one can take to make one’s home safe for babies, and without throwing away style and all other things one loves to be at her home. As Mommies, we should be responsible of these things and we should realize that sometimes, danger can come in beautifully crafted packages.

Like those seemingly “innocent” and sweet smelling candles that provide ambiance and amazing fragrant — these are serious fire hazard sources as well. Simple ornamental trunks and storage chests may cause trouble for kids as well. They may crawl inside and get trapped, now that’s really scary! Another thing, safety latches and locks for drawers and cabinets must be considered as well. Kids might explore on those drawers and those drawers might accidentally fall on them. Ouch! Or they might get their hands on dangerous substances. Safety gates must also be installed on stairs (not a problem for me I guess, my Little Nicholas and I only have one room, hehehe). Smoke detectors must be installed as well. (Now this, I don’t think I can afford for now). And yes, those safety nettings to prevent kids from falling from windows, decks and landings. Outlet covers must also be considered. Kids might venture on to it and might get electrocuted. (Oh no!)

Hmmm… I’m sure there are many more child-proofing devices and strategies out there. I know I didn’t cover everything. Ahhh… I just hope my little room is safe enough for Little Nicholas. Our little haven is indeed little, and I hope it will do for both of us now (and including the Nanny when Mommy gets one, I wonder where she’ll be sleeping, gosh!)

Hmmmm.. what do you think?

Little Nicholas Joined Babies Online!

Mommy decided to make Little Nicholas an affiliate of a great baby site, Babies Online. This morning, Mommy finally had the time to do so, she signed up for membership and whoa! The site automatically made Little Nicholas a member by simply keying-in his expected birthday and Mommy’s email-address. Yes, as easy as that. The website then sent Mommy her log-in information so Little Nicholas can start surfing the site.

The welcome page was great! It gave Mommy tons of information already such as conception information, telling me that Little Nicholas was most likely “made” last March 20, 2008 (hmmmm… that’s a bit close, 2 days short though, hahaha!), and that Mommy’s in Week 33 but baby is still 31 weeks old. So that’s 229 days down and 51 days more to go! Whew! It also gave Little Nicholas’ Fun birthday facts like his birthstone: Turquoise for prosperity (I was glowing with happiness when I knew that, was it just a coincidence that I designed Little Nicholas’ blog with turquoise in the background?); that my angel will be a Sagittarian, with his month’s flower as Narcissus or Holly (indigo, green or greenish blue, wow! Mommy’s favorite colors!), and many more information! The welcome page also presented some interesting pages like the site’s Pregnancy Calendar, its Free (yes, free, gotta check that one out) Pregnancy Alert Wristband, Breastfeeding Support kit, Child safety ID kit, samples and coupons and more! It also has its Baby Names Database and Pregnancy Blogs.

Mommy then set-up Little Nicholas’ page and taadaah! His journal is ready! Now Little Nicholas’ Babies Online Page is up and running! Great work Mom!

Little Nicholas Went Shopping!

So Mommy feels like an endorser for baby products now huh? Why is she posing like she’s having an advertising campaign for baby bottles? LOL!

Oh well, Mommy took Little Nicholas shopping a week ago. We didn’t really splurge on capricious stuff. Mommy has prepared a list, and she only purchased what were needed by her little angel. Several brands came up on that shopping spree. Jonhson’s, Babyflo, Pigeon, Babyjoy, Baby Company, Lactacyd, Baby Impressions, Baby World, Dolphin, Mc Jarell, EQ Dry, Giggles and so much more! Huh! I feel like thanking my sponsors! Hahaha!

As mentioned above, Mommy just followed a list of baby essentials that Merck’s Beginnings (Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy) booklet has recommended for expecting mommies. These are as follows:

BABY’S PLACE:

1. Sleeping area (crib or bassinet/cradle), which Mommy didn’t purchase because it’s very costly and she wanted Little Nicholas to sleep with her on the bed.

2. Place for clothes and supplies (Mommy bought only a 3-shelf rack for supplies, Little Nicholas will share Mommy’s cabinet for his clothes)

3. Pillows, Blankets and Bolster set

4. Baby Rubber Mat

BABY’S CLOTHING:

1. 5-7 Undershirts or ‘onesies’

2. 1-2 hats/bonnets

3. 1-2 sets of baby washcloths and towels

4. 3-4 dozen newborn diapers

5. 3-4 waterproof pants & diaper pants if using cloth diapers

6. 4-6 receiving blankets

7. 2-3 pairs of booties or socks

8. 2 washable bibs

9. 4-6 cotton diapers to use as burp rags

10. 3-4 fitted sheets

11. 2 crib blankets

12. 1-2 blankets for the carriage or stroller, which Mommy didn’t buy because Little Nicholas has no stroller yet (ahem, it’s really expensive)

FEEDING SUPPLIES:

1. 4-6 Baby Bottles (4 and 8 ounces)

2. Bottle Brush

3. Breast Pump

4. Nursing Bra

OTHER ITEMS:

1. Pacifier (1-piece silicone model with a soft nipple)

2. Infant carrier, which again, Mommy didn’t purchase yet, definitely next time.

3. Stroller and/or carriage

4. Nasal suction bulb

5. Thermometer

6. Front pack or back pack

7. Diaper Bag

8. Calibrated Spoon, medicine dropper and oral syringe for medicine

9. Baby nail clippers/scissors (manicure set)

10. Baby Bathtub

11. Baby comb/brush

12. Diaper rash ointment or petroleum jelly

13. Manzanilla/Baby Oil

14. Baby Wash, Powder and/or lotion

15. Baby Wipes

16. Baby Album and Baby Book or Diary

There, I guess that’s more than enough already. But to be honest, not only did my legs ached when I shopped for these stuff, my wallet ached much more, LOL! Mommy and Little Nicholas came home laden with so many plastic bags, but there’s nothing much left in Mommy’s wallet. That’s a little sad… But well, I was really really happy and I felt so accomplished as a Mom to be able to buy my Little Nicholas all that he needs (for now). Till next shopping!
