Mommy it’s so hot! :(

Poor little Nicholas. He suffered heat rash last December when it was cold and rainy. Think how affected he is with this hot and sizzling summer huh!

My baby is sweating every now and then. He was super irritated with the extreme heat that I have to put him in my Mom’s room where the airconditioning system was installed. But then, there are days of blackout. Yup, those days when the electricity is gone (AC is out of the question) are the days that my little angel is throwing tantrums and in a bad mood. He screams, kicks out, squirms and bathes himself in sweat.

Sigh… the scene is just heartbreaking.

I wanted so much to give Nico the comfort he deserves. I know some people would say, let the baby grow up in that. You never had aircon before but you turned out fine. Yeah, like we have the same level of heat 27 years ago? Like the environment is as destructed 27 years ago as it is today? Like we still have fresh air and that we’re not suffering from global warming?

I know I have to work really hard to give my angel a comfortable life. I long for the day when I can afford my own home, for my baby and I, equipped with a centralized airconditioning system with a generator to boot.  Hmmm.. the one I found available at all year electric is great. Now if only Nico and I are in the US to avail their services. :-P

At Last, Nico’s 2-Day Fever is Over!

Nico had another shot of immunization last Wednesday. He was feverish since Thursday and he was still at it until yesterday. I’m so happy he woke up with a smile this morning. Free of suffering from severe heat, Nico’s back to his bouncing state. Hurrah!

Reading baby health books made me realize that a fever is not an illness but a symptom. Meaning, it is a signal that something is wrong in one’s body. Illnesses are treated by so many available medicines in the market. But how about symptoms? Treatments for Symptoms are available as well. We can find many of them online too if we’re just diligent enough to find and read about them.

Being a Mom, I have been encouraging myself to learn more about symptoms and diseases. I know that prevention is always better than cure. I guess it goes the same with symptoms and illnesses. I think it’s far far better to handle symptoms so it won’t complicate the illness. Especially that a baby cannot talk, he can only cry. Poor darling.

Life’s Purpose

Joining several discussion sites made me reflect about my life.  There are so many discussions about life, life’s direction, contentment, happiness, and more. Right now, I am “enjoying” my life. I can say that I am happy, contented and proud that I am a single Mom.

Five years ago, in the midst of miseries and suffering, finding a life purpose, is but an impossible thing to do. Now, with my little angel in my life, I know God has given me a wonderful purpose in life — that is to become the best Mom for my little Nicholas.

I never thought parenting can be a very gratifying responsibility. Though I am alone in rearing my son, in molding a good future for him, I am still hopeful and positive that I can do this. I see this as God’s gift, His way of telling me that I have a purpose in my continuing existence in this world. Sigh… after all I’ve been through, I can still sing… “What a wonderful world”. Thank God for Little Nicholas.

My Star Baby

I want my little angel to join SM’s Star Baby contest. It’s a good way to showcase my baby’s handsome features. I’m sure he will win :) The sad part is that, I have to purchase 5,000 peso worth of products in SM’s Baby Company department, 500 pesos of which must be Prokids and Pigeon products. Hmmm… I guess I’ll have to raise enough fundings for this. This could be the start of my baby’s stardom! Hihihi!

Kidding aside, I’m really proud of my baby. I want the world to know that I’m his mother and he’s my pride and joy. Nico is so cute that the criteria: 15% of Physical Built, 15% Skin Complexion, 30% Projection and 40% Over-All Appearance (”cute factor”) will be very easy for him. He’s my baby after all, like Mommy, like son. Hah! :)

I just hope I’ll have enough money for this and Nico will do the rest! :-P

Don Nicholas :)

We tease Nico with this title. Everybody in the house call him Don Nicholas :) The reason? Nico loves watching TV. He sits in front of the television as if he owns the house, not caring about everything else, intently focusing on the screen. He even smiles or giggles as if he understands what he’s watching.

Look at him, he seems serious, isn’t he? But he is serious alright! Nico spends 15-20 minutes a day (he can’t stay in that position for long) sitting in front of the television (about 2 meters away) and enjoying his time. It’s one of his favorite past times among talking to his most favorite persons and listening to his Mommy reading him stories.

Guess what Nico is watching. Yep! You guess that right. He’s watching Spongebob Squarepants. I think it’s completely harmless for a 3-month old baby, right? He’ll start watching those educational stuff on his 6th month. For now, I’ll just let him enjoy Spongebob’s show while we fondly call him DON NICHOLAS :)
