Giggling Nicholas

Little Nicholas is Happy

He’s just soooooooo happy! :) Do you know why? Aunt Betty is tickling his chin, making him giggling and laughing like that! Oh my! Just 2 months and he can already make everybody happy!

It actually is his first smile after almost a week of crying because of his painful rashes in the neck. Well, I finally took Nicholas to a Pediatrician yesterday and the doctor prescribed an ointment. I guess it was a magic ointment because look at him. :) Not crying anymore, he’s now comfortable and back to his happy disposition. And he even giggles huh!

Oh! I really love my Little Nicholas!

Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis

Little Nicholas just recovered from a fever. He had his DTP vaccine last Wednesday and as a reaction to the vaccine, he suffered from a fever and fussiness. My! He wouldn’t even drink my milk! He would prefer milk formula and would even cry for minutes before taking the milk. He was so fussy too, like he wanted to sleep all day and night but can’t. The doctor prescribed a paracetamol to relieve the fever through it would typically last for 2 days. Well, it’s been two days and my little angel is getting better. :)

This is actually Nico’s third vaccination. First was when he was still a day old and was given the BCG and Hepatitis B-Starter vaccines. Then he got a Hepatitis B booster when he was a month old. He turned 2 months last Sunday and was ready for the DTP shot so he got it last Wednesday.

DTP vaccine will protect Nico against three diseases: diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (more popularly known as  whooping cough).Diphtheria is a rather grave contagious disease caused by bacteria that produce toxins which stir up the baby’s nervous system and heart. This inflammation is very dangerous and may lead to heart failure and paralysis. Tetanus is a condition that results from bacteria that grow in wounds. These bacteria produce a toxin that can affect the nervous system. It may also cause muscle spasms and paralysis, especially in the jaw area (commonly known as lockjaw.) Pertussis or whooping cough is another contagious disease caused by bacteria. This disease is very dangerous for babies under one year old.

I am just glad that I was able to give Nicholas his first dose of the DTP vaccine. We’ll be coming back for the second dose, a booster to strengthen his immunity against the three aforementioned diseases.

Happy 2 Months!

Happy birthday my angel!

Little Nicholas turned two months today and we celebrated the day with pictures and videos! :) Mommy took a video using a webcam but she forgot that the computer set doesn’t have a microphone so the video has no audio :( Mommy edited the video then and put a music in it (Go the Distance from the movie Hercules). Sigh… I was singing Happy Birthday in that video and my voice was wasted. :( It’s alright. The video is great. My Little Nicholas looks really handsome and adorable… Ohhhh! I’m inlove! Here’s the video’s preview, I’m sharing it for the world to see.

Wrapped Like A Cocoon

Little Nicholas is a jumpy baby. He gets startled by loud noises and shows it by throwing out his arms and even cry. Sometimes, he tends to overreact to any kind of stimulation, either from inside him (when he pass gas, hihihi!) or outside (my noisy nieces). I read from a book that carefully wrapping a baby will provide a protective cocoon between him and the outside world and will lessen his tendency to be jumpy. And so, my Aunt Betty and I decided to wrap him everytime he sleeps.

According to my readings, wrapping my baby is one of the most effective ways of giving overall physical contact with a warm, soft surface. I say, it’s effective, because once wrapped, my little angel stays warmer because stray drafts will not easily penetrate the wrappings. It also promotes sleep, that’s guaranteed.

Well, wrapped or not, my darling little Nicholas looks great! Now that’s for sure.

Sleeping… Growing…

I love watching my baby sleep (well, I love watching him all the time, hihihi!). I think all my waking hours (if I’m not working or taking a shower) are spent staring at my angel’s handsome face (I even eat inside the room so I can look at him all the time). I know I am my baby’s number one fan. Why not? He’s so cute and adorable, everybody loves to look at his handsome and expressive face! He’s definitely grown up now! Huh! I guess that’s what happens when one sleeps all the time, hihihi! Ahhh… I love my Little-Big Nicholas… :)
